Trim carpenters are specialized workers who install and repair molding and trim found on windows, doors, baseboards, mantels, and other ornamental pieces.
Christopher Hartlaub, a trim carpenter with Roland Builder, grew up in Adams County just outside of Hanover. He attended York College and graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in professional writing. After living in Gettysburg for 6 years, he recently moved to Mechanicsburg. Chris attends Cornerstone Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
Prior to joining the Roland Builder team, Chris was the lead installer for seven years at California Closets where he discovered his passion for working with his hands. Chris loves the quality, the customization, and personal touches that Roland Builder brings to home building in the central PA region.
“You see a lot of new homes being built with focus on quick turn-around, but quality often suffers. While keeping a schedule is important, it is subservient to the Roland Builder Quality. We’re not just building structures for our clients; we are building their HOME!”– Chris Hartlaub
Chris is always looking for ways to connect with or help others, personally and professionally. The building community has always been a driving force in his life and really motivates him towards excellence. On top of that, he loves creating something new and understanding how things work. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a finished project that exceeds expectations.
In Chris’s personal life he has enjoyed playing the guitar for the last 20 years and even played the banjo in a folk/rock band for four years. Before the pandemic he was booking bands for a non-profit arts organization and hopes that he will be able to help them again. With the free time during the pandemic, he has satisfied his creative itch by sketching and building furniture for his home.

Chris met his girlfriend just before January 2020 and started dating during the pandemic. With Elisa being a big “foodie”, the chance to visit a lot of restaurants was challenging at first but as restrictions eased up, they enjoy checking out new restaurants together. Sunday Brunch is definitely the highlight of each week for them! It won’t be long that there will be an even bigger highlight. Chris recently proposed to Elisa, and they are in the beginning stages of planning their wedding.
I find Chris to be a happy guy and genuinely friendly. He’s one of those people that you can’t help but smile when you see him because he’s smiling first. I admire how he talks about planning a wedding with Elisa and it’s easy to see the love for Elisa beaming from his face.
Brent Roland, President of Roland Builder, Inc., says, “Chris is a great asset to the team. He has developed his skills with us over the past two years and earned our confidence as a quality finish carpenter. His positive approach and calm demeanor have earned him the respect of his peers and our clients. I feel blessed to have him working here at Roland Builder.”
